At Cappsule, we believe better health starts with better systems that are built for the realities of daily life. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Shadowboxer, one of Australia’s leading digital product studios, to co-create a medication adherence platform tailored for people with disability and the NDIS.
Together, we’re designing a smarter, more human-centred way to support medication routines that is tech-enabled, care-driven, and seamlessly integrates with the everyday lives of participants and their care teams.
Medication non-adherence is a silent challenge across the disability sector. Many participants manage multiple medications with varying schedules, often supported by carers or providers with limited tools to help. Missed doses and poor tracking can have serious consequences and yet most existing solutions are either too generic, too rigid, or too disconnected from real-world needs.
We’re setting out to change that.
With Shadowboxer’s technical expertise and our ecosystem of smart health technology, we’re creating a platform that enables:
Smart Tag Integration
Our ambient smart tags track the movement and access of medication packs, giving real-time insights into whether meds are being taken or potentially forgotten, without requiring constant manual check-ins.
Dynamic, Person-Centred Scheduling
Instead of static reminders, our system adjusts based on the participant’s daily routine, support environment, and unique care plan.
Multi-User Support
The platform allows for shared access across participants, family, carers, and providers with appropriate permissions and alerts so everyone stays connected.
NDIS Compliance and Reporting
Designed with NDIS frameworks in mind, our system makes it easier for support workers and providers to document and report on medication adherence, helping reduce admin while improving safety.
“Nothing’s more important to the team at Shadowboxer than building meaningful products that really make a difference. Partnering with Cappsule on this project has allowed us to do just that. This is technology that respects the user, fits naturally into care environments, and solves a real need in the sector.”
— Stephen Graham, General Manager at Shadowboxer
Shadowboxer’s approach to collaborative and agile development has been key in helping us take this from concept to reality with speed, insight, and precision.
This solution is not just about tech. It is about trust, clarity, and continuity. Everything we’re designing is informed by the voices of people with lived experience including participants, family carers, support workers, and plan managers. We’re building for people, not just profiles.
Our initial pilot will roll out later this year, focusing on participants with higher medication complexity. From there, we’ll grow the platform to support broader integration across pharmacies, provider systems, and eventually connected care plans that extend beyond medication alone.
We see this as one of the most meaningful pieces of infrastructure we’ve ever built. It is practical, scalable, and will make a real difference.
